Dollars Leveraged

Leverage. It's one of the key values of The Fund's venture philanthropy model. When we say it, we mean dollars that we believe companies, foundations or the public sector made in our portfolio programs because we made an investment first.

Calculating "leverage" is a difficult and error-prone endeavor. These numbers represent our best estimation of dollars invested because The Fund actively solicited or encouraged other public and private entities to support programs in our portfolio. This number is a portion of the category above, not in addition to it.
