Job Description
Position
Overview
Reporting directly
to The Fund's President and the program committee of the Board
of Directors, the Director, Program Investments will manage
a small and talented staff to meet programmatic objectives.
Specifically, the Director will lead the team in identifying
appropriate investments, conducting rigorous due diligence,
developing proposals, presenting recommendations to the Board,
and managing investment programs to high levels of quantifiable
success. With the organization's third Leadership Fund about
to launch, the Director will be involved in setting the goals
and priorities for the fund as well as participating as a
senior leader in setting the overall strategic direction of
the organization.
Responsibilities
The Director will be held accountable for the following results:

Set and achieve
ambitious programmatic goals |
 |
Identify innovative, high-impact
programs for investment that align with The Fund's focus |
 |
Cultivate opportunities
for collaboration with local and national foundations
that invest in education |
 |
Ensure that the program
committee of The Fund's board is actively engaged in the
strategic planning and program investment process |
 |
Provide strategic and operational
management assistance to portfolio programs with Chicago
Public Schools' leadership |
 |
Hire, motivate, and lead an integrated
team of professionals, including establishing and reviewing
results-based performance metrics |
 |
As a knowledgeable and passionate spokesperson,
represent The Fund among business, philanthropic and education
leaders |
 |
Add value to organizational activities
such as strategic planning and recruiting as a member
of the President's executive leadership team |
 |
Exhibit The Fund's core values of collaboration,
equity, excellence, innovation, integrity, and leadership |
Qualifications
The Fund seeks
a highly motivated, entrepreneurial professional with at least
15 years of professional experience. The ideal candidate will
have:

A successful
track record leading an organization or major department
to improved performance |
 |
Substantial expertise
in k-12 education and school reform issues |
 |
Understanding of the philanthropic
community, including experience with grant-making process |
 |
Superior analytical skills |
 |
Demonstrated commitment
to underserved children |
 |
Advanced degree in educational
leadership, public policy, business administration or
related field |
The desire to work in an
entrepreneurial environment where taking initiative, displaying
a strong work ethic, paying attention to detail, continuing
to grow as a professional and having a willingness to cross
boundaries and help colleagues are a must. Familiarity with
Chicago Public Schools is preferred. Compensation
We seek to maintain compensation packages comparable to the
private sector, commensurate with experience.
